TRACEY FLYE - DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER
RESUME
Tracey Flye is one of Canada’s most respected directors/choreographers with credits that span over 200 productions and is the recipient of numerous awards and nominations including the Marquée Award of Excellence for Cabaret, an Elizabeth Sterling Hayes Award for Outstanding Choreography for Hairspray and a Dora Award for Outstanding Production for Next to Normal.
Her credits include: a 12-year association with the legendary rock band QUEEN and its production of We Will Rock You (Toronto, South Africa, Asia, US. National/Broadway Tour), Kelly v Kelly, Next to Normal (Musical Stage Co), Ring Of Fire (Theatre Aquarius/Citadel Theatre), ONCE (The Grand Theatre/RMTC), Million Dollar Quartet (Charlottetown Festival), Cabaret (RMTC), West Side Story, Evita (Vancouver Opera), The Penelopiad, The 39 Steps (RMTC), Venus in Fur, Buyer & Cellar (ATP) and Hairspray (Rainbow Stage/Mayfield).
Choreography and staging credits include: Kiss Me Kate and Evita (Stratford Festival), Billy Elliot (RMTC), The Drowsy Chaperone (TC/RMTC) and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Boys in the Photograph (Mirvish). She was Resident Director for the National Theatre’s Warhorse and ONCE for Mirvish Productions. She was the Associate Choreographer for Peggy Sue Got Married (West End) and from the time of its North American debut, Tracey was Asst. Choreographer for the Canadian production and US. National Tour of Mamma Mia!.
Tracey remains committed to new work development and as an educator, to the mentorship and development of young-in-craft artists, having taught at Sheridan College, Randolph School for the Performing Arts, Toronto Metropolitan University, George Brown, Grant MacEwan University and held an Assistant Professorship at the University of Alberta in the BFA Program.
